mounting cifs changed in 23.04?

I have some network disks, some on another Ubuntu box, some on a Windows 11 box that I mount in fstab with lines similar to:

//10.0.0.23/Misc    /smb/fs1/Misc       cifs    uid=1000,gid=1000,credentials=/etc/samba/Linux.cred 0   0

When the box was on 22.x no problems, but after updating to 23.04, then the program SmPlayer could no longer play any video files on these networked disks. When 23.10 came out, I did a clean install, but the problem persists. Did something in CIFS change in 23? Some options I need to use?

Interestingly, if I go into Nautilus "Other Locations" and mount the drives there, then the program plays the files fine. So what is Nautilus doing that my mount commands aren't?

Note: I have tried various vers=x and none helped
